Gator Gab – Week at a Glance – Week #10 – Nov. 4 – 8, 2019

Below is a peak at some events and important information items followed by our Week ahead …

Our Kitchener Rangers visit the SWAMP to let our Gators know how important reading is to them – THANKS and GO RANGERS!

OLOG is Proud to be a SILVER ECO-SCHOOL – Our student’s, Eco-team are hard at work as we separate our school materials into the proper recycling bins – way to go Gators!

Our library is often transformed to become a technology and innovation center. Students are using ipads and chromebooks to play tag with programmable Spheros – very cool!

Young and old participated in the Halloween FUN on October 31st!

The new Umbrella Project Theme for the month of November is Growth Mindset. Having a growth mindset (the belief that you are in control of your own ability and can learn and improve) is the key to success. Yes, hard work, effort, and persistence are all important, but not as important as having that underlying belief that you are in control of your own destiny. The attached link shows a video from the Sesame Street Gang to help explain Growth Mindset to your child(ren).

Book of Life – Prayers for loved ones throughout November

The Feast of All Souls on November 2nd begins an important time of year in the Catholic Church.  The month of November affords us a special time to honour the lives of our loved ones who are deceased and revisit our wonderful memories of these family members and friends who now reside with God in Heaven.  We know that their spirit and love is still very much alive in our hearts and often they inspire us to do great things in our lives and for others. A Family Book of Life Form will be sent home this week, please take a moment with your children to note your loved ones for whom we can honour and pray for as a Catholic School Community. A link to the form is below in case needed …

Parent-Teacher Interviews this week – Thursday, Nov. 7th from 4:00-9:00 PM

Their first report of the year, “The Progress Report,” will come hone on Tuesday, November 5th and then Parent-Teacher Interviews happen on the evening of Thursday, November 7th. Thank you for returning the letter/form that was sent home and we will do our best to honour the time slots you requested. A confirmation of your children’s interview times will be sent home shortly and also confirmed in your child’s Progress Report sent home on Nov. 5th – thanks parents!
