Gator Gab – Week at a Glance for Week #14 – Dec. 3rd-7th, 2018
Below is a peak at our week ahead followed by some important information items – have a wonderful week Gators!
During the Advent Season, our classroom will participate in numerous activities to prepare for the significance of the birth of Jesus. Our Grade 5’s will participate in an Advent Morning Retreat on Thursday, Dec. 6th at Blessed Sacrament Church and we will hold a special School Advent Mass on Thursday, Dec. 13th in our school GYM at 10:45 AM. Please join us if your schedule permits. The Advent Wreath and the lighting of 4 candles to mark each week and the time drawing closer is a powerful reminder to take advantage of this opportunity to help spiritually prepare for Christmas and to focus the students’ attention on the true meaning of Christmas.
Thank you to Mrs. Loveday, Ms. Farrell, our Gr. 1 and Gr. 2/3 Classrooms for being Mass leaders, and to Father Paul, Marilyn, Shannon and Dave and to all of our wonderful students for all you do to make our Mass and Liturgies so very special!
Gator families, it is the time of year to give and our Eco-team is getting right into that spirit. Starting this Monday, December 3rd – December 14th, if you have any clean, gently used hats or mittens at home that you are no longer using, please send them to our school to help decorate our mitten tree! This is an important initiative to our Eco-team because it reuses items, which helps our environment, and it helps people who need warm items at this chilly time of year.
We will also be implementing Boomerang Lunches again next Thursday, December 6th. Please remember that our goal is to ensure there is no garbage thrown out that day within our classes.
Thank you from our Ecoteam!!
Spirit Wear Reminder
We are excited to offer Gator Spirit Wear for purchase for our students, staff and parents! We have several styles being offered, with items starting as low as $10! Clothing is offered in your choice of either grey or royal blue and both youth and adult sizing is available. Some sizing samples are being delivered to the school but is always a good idea to order a little larger so that students can wear the items for more than one year and/or be passed down to siblings.
Our Spirit Wear Orders should arrive to the School in time for Christmas. All ordering is on line and will be “batched by classroom” to come directly to your child’s Classroom Teacher. Your child’s Teacher’s Name will appear in a drop down menu to assist with ordering. If this is a Christmas Gift, please inform your child’s Classroom Teacher to set it aside for you to pick up.
Please visit the following website to view all available options for purchase.
Reminder – the deadline for ordering is December 9, 2018!
Grade 8 Mount Mary Retreat
Our Grade 8 students had a wonderful 3 day retreat at Mount Mary in Ancaster. Their Spiritual Retreat was extremely memorable and included so many special moments: Mass in the beautiful Chapel (thanks Father Paul for joining us), a 10 km hike amidst an amazing natural backdrop and waterfall, free time and sports activities in the gym, a guided meditation, games, and so much more. We are proud of our wonderful Gr. 8’s! We also want to extend a big thanks to our Intermediate Staff who worked so very hard to make this retreat that much more special – THANKS Mrs. Griffith, Ms. Carvalho, Mr. Amorim, and Madame Pajot!
Christmas Gift Angel Tree
REMINDER – We are still accepting donations for our Angel Tree. Gifts will be picked up this Thursday, December 6th by SVDP at Blessed Sacrament Church. Thank you to all our families who so generously donated gifts and food items for this very important initiative as SVDP will ensure we help many families in our community – AWESOME!
SVDP at Blessed Sacrament Parish – Help this Christmas or throughout the year
We are a community that looks out for each other and we all have had a time in our lives where a little support from a friend, parent, or community group went a long way toward helping during a challenging time. If you could use a little help this Christmas – for instance a Food Hamper and some Christmas Gifts for the children – please consider giving SVDP a call – they are there to help. The contact # is 519-580-0411.
